Eligibility Criteria

Please see the Quartz's Best Companies for Remote Workers program requirements below.

“Quartz’s Best Companies for Remote Workers” is a global program designed to recognize employers that are loved by their remote employees. To participate, organizations with 100 or fewer employees must have at least 25 full-time, permanent employees who are remote workers at the time of application. For employers with more than 100 permanent full-time employees, at least 25% of the workforce must be working remotely at the time of application to our program.

A “remote worker” is defined, for the purpose of this program, as someone who performs their job in a location that is neither affiliated with nor fully furnished by their employer, for at least 75% of the time.

To be eligible for consideration, companies must also meet the following criteria:

  • Be a publicly or privately held, for-profit or non-profit business
  • Must be in business a minimum of one year
  • Have a minimum of 25 remote full-time employees

Best Companies Group and our partners reserve the right to exclude any participating organization that does not align with the intent and spirit of the program.

How to enter your organization

All organizations will participate in one of three ways:

1. As an individual organization possessing one employer registration number (e.g. Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) in the US, VAT identification number in Europe)

2. As the parent/holding company of multiple organizations with one employer registration number for all subsidiaries. The parent/holding company must register with all eligible employees working for that parent/holding company.

3. Subsidiaries of a parent/holding organization may register separately if each subsidiary organization possesses a separate employer registration number. If the organization has multiple facilities, branches, factories, offices or stores, all locations must be included in the survey if they operate under the same registration number.

Which employees to include

Include all remote employees, from the CEO, partners, all the way to line-level employees. This count excludes all temporary, seasonal or per diem employees, PRN, independent contractors, volunteers, interns, outside consultants, or staffing employees placed by other organizations.
