Reviewing the employee comments from our Employee Engagement and Satisfaction survey for the “Best Places to Work” programs is often a hilarious experience.
Best Companies Group team members often come across comments that would make anyone laugh, or feel a twinge of jealousy about what other companies are offering their employees such as beer taps in the office, having an office dog run around with toys, or going on party cruises every year.
The comments below are just a few examples of the employee perks we love reading about!
Employee Survey Question: What does this organization do that makes it a place where people would want to work?
Employee Answers:
“The company does a great job of creating a fun environment that also motivates people to be their best. For example we have quarterly team exercises that are invaluable in getting everyone to work well together. For one event groups were given 5 hours to conceive and produce a rap video on the industry which was judged that evening by a writer from Rolling Stone as well as the rapper Coolio who also gave a concert for the company afterwards.”
“My company gave every employee a pair of Beats by Dre as a holiday gift in 2011.”
“Provides positive work environment with such amenities as it can (including things like stocking the kitchens with a variety of milks; having an employee pool table; providing a breast-feeding room; etc.).”
“We have a kitchen with snack and beverages; we do group activities like paintball and karaoke; we have a foosball table; every week there is a companywide meeting where the founders and other leaders update everyone on business progress; we only hire smart, fun, hard-working people, so the people you work with are spectacular; people bring dogs into the office everyday; there’s tons of laughter everyday!”
“Beers on the stoop of the building every Friday, one week of paid time off for a bike trip, they’re paying for my masters degree, no interest loans to buy new bikes, an hour a week for working out on the clock, a half day to volunteer at a charity, and much, much more.”
“I think the benefits package is good and Pursue Your Passion benefit gives me freedom to use reimbursement money for races, Spanish classes, and cooking classes that I want to do throughout the year. I like the laid-back but professional attitude that people have the the office. Beer Fridays are my favorite as well.”
“The culture is all about passion. We have “passion days” where we have ice skated with Kelsey who was a world class figure skater, ultimate frisbee with Allison who lives for the sport, dutch-oven cooking with Steve – the ultimate river man. The company is HUGELY supportive of volunteer work. I personally read to my sons’ Kindergarten and 1st grade classes. I ride my bike to work – and am reimbursed for tune-ups. Lots of GREAT people!”
“Open air rooftop work space; spectacular location on the beach; time to run/bike/swim; all team members can participate in triathlon sanctuary; company hosts a event for the team and local community; great benefits; beach cruisers available to go to lunch nearby; sunny every day; clear communication; happy people.”
